Daniel Francis elected as the new M.P for Bexleyheath & Crayford
Daniel was elected as the first Labour M.P since 2005 for Bexleyheath and Crayford and won with a majority of 2,114 votes over the Conservative candidate.
A lifelong Bexley resident, Daniel has been a local Councillor since 2014, in addition to a previous stint on the Council between 2000 and 2010. He runs his own consultancy business and lives locally with his wife, a teacher, and their ten-year old twins.
Daniel was Labour’s candidate in the 2021 Old Bexley & Sidcup by-election, achieving a 10% swing to the party. As the parent of a child with cerebral palsy, he works closely with local parent groups supporting and campaigning on behalf of children with disabilities and their families both across the borough and nationally with SCOPE and the Changing Places campaign.
During his time on the Council, Daniel served as Cabinet Member for Transport under the last Labour administration from 2003-06 where he worked with trade unions to save direct Welling to Victoria train services, deliver road safety improvements, and ensure the Elizabeth Line came south of the river to Abbey Wood.
Daniel Francis, Labour’s M.P or Bexleyheath & Crayford, said:
“It is an honour to have been elected as the Labour Member of Parliament for Bexleyheath and Crayford.
“I’ve heard clearly that my constituents need their faith in politics restored. I’ll be getting to work to deliver the change people across Bexleyheath & Crayford have voted for.”
“Only a Labour government can deliver the change we need to take back our streets, get the NHS back on its feet, break down barriers to opportunity and get Britain building again.
