Jeremy Fosten elected as Councillor for Belvedere

Congratulations to Jeremy on being elected as the Cllr. For Belvedere and for being such a hard-working candidate, welcome to Bexley Labour Group. It is the first Labour victory in a by election in Bexley since 2000. Jeremy has already been busy speaking at his first council meeting held on Wednesday 6th November championing community safety issues in Belvedere and getting Thameslink services to stop at Belvedere.

After speaking to many residents in the recent Belvedere by election, many residents raised community safety and burglary as a major issue in Belvedere ward, yet Bexley have not or are not willing to invest in improving CCTV provision for residents and instead in recent years have removed live monitoring of CCTV cameras in Bexley and Bexley Council Leader, Teresa O’Neill  made an outrageous accusation that the Belvedere safer neighbourhood panel don’t meet, which is not true. Belvedere Labour Cllrs want more CCTV cameras in Belvedere to support the fight against crime’

Cllr. Jeremy Fosten (Belvedere) says:

‘ I am honoured that I was elected as a councillor for Belvedere! On paper this is just another Labour hold, but I’m determined for it to be so much more than that and I’ll be working to repay the trust Belvedere residents have put in me. Big thanks to my friends, family, Bexley Labour Cllrs and Members for their support in getting me elected’

Jeremy is born and bought up in Bexley and has studied at local schools and is a lawyer training to be a barrister. Jeremy pledges to be a strong voice for Belvedere and wants the Tory council to get a grip on fly-tipping that blights Belvedere and build more genuinely affordable homes in Belvedere and will be strong voice for young people on Bexley Council, using that knowledge on how services affect them.

Below are the results of the Belvedere by election, held on the 17th October.
