Councillor Esther Amaning
Belvedere Ward
Councillor Esther Amaning has lived in the Borough since 2007.
She was first elected to represent Lesnes Abbey in 2014. She was then elected to represent Thamesmead East in 2018. In 2022, she was elected to represent Belvedere.
Her background consists of having a politics degree, and then working in local government for 17 years, she retrained as a Teacher in 2010, and now works part time as a Lecturer in adult education.
She is the shadow lead in Standing Advisory Council on Religious Education (SACRE) and a Member in the Pensions Committee.
She has previously served as a governor in Longlands Primary School, is an active member in her local church and is passionate about social justice. She is also a volunteer at the Erith Food Bank.
She has a keen interest in Black, Asian and Minority Ethnic (BAME) issues, mental health and wellbeing, matters relating to Special Education Needs and Disabilities (SEND) and in particular in children. She is always willing to help and support others with different situations and circumstances.
