Bexley Labour urges no summer cuts to Thameslink services in Bexley
Bexley’s Labour Group of councillors are disappointed that Govia Thameslink has announced cuts to the Luton to Rainham service, which stops at Abbey Wood and Slade Green to on train per hour. We would urge Thameslink stop this cut, as cutting rail services is not the answer, and the success of the Elizabeth services shows more services mean more people use it and improve connectivity.
Bexley Labour have long campaigned for more public transport links in Bexley and have long campaigned for Thameslink services to stop at Belvedere and Erith in the future.

Jeremy Fosten, Bexley Labour Deputy Leader, “We are disappointed at the temporary summer cuts to Thameslink Luton to Rainham services, to one train per hour that run through Bexley, without any consultation. I have written to Govia Thameslink that they rethink this very shortsighted cut to rail services and Heide Alexander, Secretary state for Transport to intervene and stop these cuts’
The impact of this proposed cut will lead to more overcrowding on other services, and this temporary cut could lead to a more permanent cut in the future.
