Bexley Labour Group has a new Deputy Leader
At last night’s annual council meeting Cllr Jeremy Fosten was confirmed as Deputy Leader of the Labour Group for 2025/26 and joins the Shadow Cabinet as Shadow cabinet member for Children’s services.
Speaking after the meeting, Cllr Stefano Borella, Leader of Bexley Labour Group said “I would like to congratulate Jeremy on becoming Deputy Leader and look forward to working together, as we prepare for crucial local elections next May, I would like to thank Cllr. Zainab Asunramu for her support over the last 3 years and wish her well for the future’
Cllr. Jeremy Fosten, Deputy Leader of Bexley Labour Group said ‘I will be making the positive case for a Labour Council and taking the fight to Reform and the Tories next May if elected in 2026, for Bexley residents in getting better transport links like extending the Dockland Light Railway to Thamesmead and Belvedere, getting Thameslink services to stop at Belvedere and Erith, improve bus services and deal effectively with fly tipping’
Bexley Labour group will continue to campaign to improve the quality of lives for Bexley residents to build housing for all, including more genuinely affordable housing, improve bin collections and street cleansing, deal with fly tipping, improve our roads and pavements that have been neglected for years, improve public transport links and safer neighbourhoods.
Bexley’s Labour Group of councillors have announced their Leader and frontbench team for the 2025/26 municipal year, in the run up to the local elections on the 7th May 2026.
