Bexley’s Labour Group of councillors have announced their Leader and frontbench team for the 2026/27 municipal year as the Labour group were confirmed as the official opposition group at this week’s annual council meeting.
Bexley Labour front bench team for 2026/27:
Cllr. Stefano Borella, Leader – Budget, Transformation and Corporate Policy
Cllr. Jeremy Fosten, Deputy Leader, Children’s Services and Education
Cllr. Chris Ball – Housing, Neighbourhoods and Climate Change
Cllr. Nicola Taylor, Finance and Corporate Services
Cllr. Larry Ferguson, Adult Social Care and Health
Speaking after the meeting, Cllr Stefano Borella, Leader of Bexley Labour Group said:
“I am delighted to announce our new Shadow Cabinet as we remain the main opposition party in Bexley. Reform UK failed to take control of Bexley Council, despite it being its number one target in London. Bexley Labour will hold this Conservative Council to account to deliver better services and highlight the difference the Labour government is making, such as providing £11m to improve roads and the £20m ‘Pride in Place ‘investment in Slade Green’
After the recent local elections on May 7th Cllr Borella thanked outgoing Labour Councillors for their service.
‘I would like to thank Mabel Ogundayo, Esther Amaning, Anna Day and Wendy Perfect for their many years of hard work and dedication after stepping down at the recent local elections. I would like also to make a special mention of Baljeet Gill, who sadly lost his seat in Northumberland Heath after years of hard work and public service.’
Bexley Labour group will continue to campaign to improve the quality of lives for Bexley residents, to build genuinely affordable housing, improve bin collections and street cleansing, deal with fly tipping, improve our roads and pavements that have been neglected for years, better public transport links and safer neighbourhoods.
